Job Title: Chief Technology Officer
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (operationally); Board of Directors on any matter affecting platform integrity
This is a founding leadership role. You will define the technology strategy, design the platform architecture, and build the engineering function from the ground up. Working within a sales-led development model, you will deliver solutions driven by validated institutional demand while advancing the company's core platform through continuous innovation. Using AI-assisted software engineering, you will build a lean, high-performing team capable of exceptional quality, speed, and scalability. You will be the company's principal technology leader and its final authority on technical feasibility, architecture, and engineering decisions. You will work closely with the commercial and executive teams and be accountable for technology strategy, engineering capability, and technical delivery.
Define and own the technology strategy, platform architecture, and long-term engineering roadmap Design and oversee a secure, modular, reusable platform capable of serving multiple defence and security institutions Lead the delivery of high-quality, AI-enabled software that maximises productivity, scalability, and code reuse Ensure all solutions meet required security, performance, and assurance standards before deployment Oversee the core platform and product portfolio, balancing validated client requirements with strategic platform capabilities Establish engineering standards, architecture principles, and technical governance across all products Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team that values excellence, innovation, and accountability Translate validated institutional requirements into feasible, secure, scalable solutions in collaboration with the commercial function Drive continuous improvement in engineering productivity, software quality, and delivery performance Establish and maintain cybersecurity, software assurance, and technology risk management frameworks Ensure all engineering activity complies with security, regulatory, and governance requirements, including use of approved technologies and secure development practices Manage the technology function within Board-approved budgets and delegated financial authority Report material technology, cybersecurity, or platform risks to the Board and executive leadership, with mitigation actions
Experience and education: Minimum of 10 years' experience in software engineering, including significant responsibility for enterprise platform architecture and delivery of complex, scalable systems Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related field. Knowledge: Experience developing technology platforms for government, defence, intelligence, cybersecurity, or other security-sensitive sectors Experience building engineering teams, capability, and platforms in a start-up, scale-up, or founding organisation Familiarity with secure deployment environments, including sovereign, air-gapped, or classified infrastructure Experience establishing engineering governance, architecture standards, and secure development practices Nigerian citizen, or significant experience within the Nigerian technology or public-sector environment. Critical competencies: Demonstrated experience designing and leading the development of secure, enterprise-grade platforms, preferably in government, defence, financial services, or other highly regulated environments Proven record leading high-performing engineering teams and delivering complex programmes from concept to deployment Current, hands-on experience applying AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development, testing, documentation, and productivity Strong understanding of secure software architecture, cybersecurity principles, cloud and on-premise deployments, systems integration, and engineering best practices Eligibility to obtain the security clearances required for the company's operations. Personal attributes: Sound technical judgement and the confidence to make difficult architectural decisions in the company's long-term interests Builds teams that value technical excellence, quality, security, innovation, and accountability Collaborates effectively with commercial and executive leadership while maintaining independent technical judgement Communicates technical risks clearly and escalates material issues promptly Operates with integrity, resilience, and a continuous improvement mindset. Salary N3,500,000 - N4,500,000 per month.
